PROVIDENCE – HealthSource RI said nearly 7,000 new customers have signed up for the state’s health benefits exchange, and 20,772 have renewed coverage, as of Jan. 10.
Also, HealthSource said 80 percent of Year One customers have renewed for 2015 in advance of the Feb. 15 deadline for open enrollment.
As of Jan. 10, HealthSource reported that 67 percent of those customers who have renewed paid their first month’s premium. The total number of HealthSource RI enrollments for 2015 coverage, including those who have not paid, is 27,690.
These individuals have a choice of 20 plans, eight more than were offered in 2014. HealthSource said that of those who have renewed, 62 percent selected a different plan, while 40 percent have selected a plan with a different carrier.
On the small employer side, 1,919 small employer accounts were created as of Jan. 10, with 541 small employer applications completed, representing 3,133 covered lives. The majority of small employers – 76 percent – enrolled in the full choice model, which allows employees to pick from 20 health plans.
From Nov. 7 to Jan. 10, HealthSource RI logged 180,979 phone calls, with the Providence office receiving 9,772 walk-ins, and Warwick, 2,434.
