Healthsource RI: 31,238 individuals enrolled in coverage for 2016

PROVIDENCE – Healthsource RI said 31,238 individuals are enrolled in health insurance coverage through the exchange for 2016, and nearly all of them are current enrollees that have been auto-renewed.
The latest data represents enrollment, paid and unpaid, through Nov. 28, and reflects 226 more people than the previous week.
Fifty-four percent of those who have enrolled are female, while 46 percent are male. The largest age group is 45 to 54 at 22 percent, followed by 35 to 44 at 17 percent, and 26 to 34 at 17 percent. Eighty-six percent are receiving some type of financial assistance, while only 14 percent are not receiving any type of assistance, according to Healthsource.
Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island continues to be the most popular plan with 53 percent of enrollments, followed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island at 43 percent, and UnitedHealthcare at 4 percent.
Open enrollment will continue through Jan. 31. It began Nov. 1.
Small employers may enroll at their renewal date, regardless of where that date falls in the calendar year. Medicaid-eligible individuals also may enroll throughout the year.
A total of 2,172 small employer accounts were created, with 749 small employer applications completed.
This past week, Healthsource RI received 6,013 phone calls, and 17,920 visits to its website, www.healthsourceri.com, which also received 30,411 page views.
