Heart & Sole fundraising continues

PORTSMOUTH – Fundraising continues through July 31 for the “Heart & Sole Walk,” which on a June 7 walk raised $86,500.
About 450 people and 225 dogs took part in the largest dog walk in Rhode Island at Glen Park. The funds raised will be put toward programs and services to help homeless animals at the Potter League.
The Potter League takes in an average of 2,000 homeless animals every year. In addition to finding homes for dogs, cats, rabbits and other small mammals, the Potter League offers programs that include foster care, humane education, behavior training, pet lost and found, and financial assistance for spay neuter surgeries.
In addition to the walk, pet lovers watched and participated in dog contests and demos, met adoptable pets and shopped for pet-friendly goods and services at the Pet Marketplace.
“We’re so fortunate to be part of such a caring and compassionate community,” said Kerry McKinnon, director of marketing, communications and outreach at the Potter League. “The work we do wouldn’t be possible without such generous local support of our mission and programs that help homeless pets in need.”
