Home Show coming to Convention Center

PROVIDENCE – The 66th annual Rhode Island Home Show will return to the Rhode Island Convention Center next week, running through April 3. It is expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors.
The show will feature a marketplace for homeowners, builders and vendors. Presented by the Rhode Island Builders Association, it includes six major features organized into four areas. They include a “Solar Tree House,” two large, elevated structures that will be connected by bridges and powered by solar energy. More than 300 students in Rhode Island participating in carpentry and technical programs are building the structures with sponsorship from National Grid, Andersen Windows and the Rhode Island Lumber Dealers Association.
When the show concludes, the Tree House will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Providence and assembled permanently for children to enjoy.
The home show also includes the “Designer’s Challenge,” a 1,600-square-foot, seven-room, home showcase, which features the work of seven designers, including some from the Rhode Island School of Design. Attendees will be asked to serve as interior design judges, viewing multiple room settings.
The list of participating designers is on the website www.ribahomeshow.com/designers.html.
Tickets to the show can be purchased at the door. Adult tickets are $10; seniors are $8. Children aged 15 and younger are admitted free.
The four-day event begins March 31 and continues through April 3. The show is from 3 to 9 p.m. March 31, 3 to 9 p.m. April 1, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 2 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 3.
