Try a historic open house tour at the Smith-Appleby House Museum for a refresher on life in the colonial times. Saturdays through April, historical re-enactors will lead tours and give demonstrations of daily living in the 18th century. During their visits, visitors will learn about the house’s 317-year history, its architecture and its former residents. The Smith-Appleby House contains 12 rooms was originally built by Elisha Smith, a grandson of John Smith “The Miller” who was part of Roger Williams’ original party of six men who had left Massachusetts to settle Providence.
