Hospice volunteer training offered

PORTSMOUTH – A six-week Hospice Volunteer Training program will be offered by Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties beginning on Thursday, Sept. 27.
The program will run for six consecutive Thursdays, ending Nov. 1. The classes will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the agency’s offices at 1184 East Main Rd.
Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties offers hospice services to people with terminal illnesses who live in Newport and Bristol counties. Hospice volunteers provide companionship and comfort for patients, respite for caregivers and assistance with errands and meal preparation. Hospice volunteers also help with special events, fund-raising, and clerical tasks.
