Hotel tax collections unchanged in July

PROVIDENCE – Five percent hotel tax collections were flat over the year in July, the R.I. Department of Revenue said this week.
Collections totaled $2,913,489 in July, compared with collections of $2,912,482 in July 2015. The DOR noted that during the 2014-15 July comparison period, collections grew nearly 25 percent.
The state’s eight regional tourism districts received the majority of the funding in July at $1.2 million, followed by municipalities at $704,108; R.I. Commerce Corp., $649,684; and the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau, $319,530.
