PROVIDENCE – HousingWorks RI at Roger Williams University has formed a partnership with the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, allowing the housing policy nonprofit to access more detailed, current data, including real estate listings.
The partnership, announced Thursday, will give HousingWorks RI a greater capacity to analyze housing issues and activity in the state, according to Nicole Lagace, director of HousingWorks RI. The nonprofit previously received quarterly, public reports from the Realtors association.
“This is going to give us access to the entire housing market in Rhode Island,” Lagace said.
For the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, the partnership allows it to collaborate with other agencies in the housing sector to help inform sound policies, according to CEO Philip Tedesco, in a written statement. The association includes 4,000 members, and is one of the largest trade organizations in the state.
“The Rhode Island Association has been the primary resource for home sales statistics in the Ocean State, and we have a mass of research and resources at our disposal regarding not only sales data, but also trends among buyers, sellers and renters,” Tedesco wrote. “It only makes sense that we put this information to work to help HousingWorks RI ensure that our policymakers understand and address Rhode Island’s future housing needs.”
As part of the partnership, the Realtors association will provide $10,000 in scholarship funds to support the HousingWorks RI 2015 Housing Fact Book Luncheon, scheduled to take place on Oct. 2.
The luncheon, which will be held at the R.I. Convention Center, will include a speaking program focused on housing challenges facing the millennial generation.
