PROVIDENCE – Roger Williams University is allowing the affordable housing coalition, HousingWorks RI, to relocate to its downtown campus, HousingWorks announced late last week.

HousingWorks RI officially moved its operations from the Rhode Island Foundation on June 15th, though leadership had been in conversations with RWU in the preceding months.

“Roger Williams University has an obvious commitment to helping Rhode Island, and HousingWorks RI is excited to partner with them in important policy discussions in our state, especially in the areas of affordable housing and the economy,” Board Chair of HousingWorks RI Ian Lang said in a prepared statement.

“We are grateful to the University for providing space on their downtown campus that allows our staff to interact with scholars and strengthen the organization’s research, policy, and communications work,” added Lang

Rhode Island Housing started HousingWorks as a campaign to educate the public and the business community about the deficit of affordable housing options for the state’s workforce in 2005.

HousingWorks RI’s new address is 150 Washington St., Suite 304 in Providence.
