IGT employees hold Holiday Giving Campaign

PROVIDENCE – IGT employees participated in a variety of charitable initiatives throughout the end of November and beginning of December as part of its annual Holiday Giving Campaign.
During the three-week campaign, employees of the company formerly known as GTECH generously collected food for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, donated toys to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots Foundation and purchased gifts for Children’s Friend’s holiday drive.
The global gaming company provides technology for gaming machines, lotteries and interactive and social gaming.
“Each year I am amazed at the generosity of IGT employees,” said Robert K. Vincent, IGT’s senior vice president of human resources and public affairs. “The dedication of these individuals to take the time out of their busy schedules to help those in need is truly admirable.”
Just before Thanksgiving, Food Bank and Toys for Tots collection boxes were distributed throughout all IGT offices in Providence, West Greenwich, Cranston and Coventry.
IGT also hosted its 21st annual “Breakfast with Santa” in which the proceeds from ticket sales were donated. The company asked everyone to bring a canned good in exchange for a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus, portrayed by IGT Chairman Don Sweitzer and his wife, Sheri. IGT collected more than 300 pounds of food and $1,600. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank received the donations.
Toys for Tots bins were placed next to Food Bank containers. After three weeks of campaigning, eight boxes were full with toys. The toys were picked up by Sgt. Brandt K. Weilbacher on Dec. 11 and donated to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
IGT employees also sponsored 23 families, including 66 children through the Children’s Friend’s “The Spirit of Giving” holiday drive. Children’s Friend is a nonprofit organization with more than 175 years of service to vulnerable children and families.
By adopting these families, IGT employees provided gifts of clothing and toys to them. The bags and boxes of gifts were donated on Dec. 10, for parents to wrap before Christmas.
Started more than 16 years ago, the drive sought to serve 1,450 families this season.
