IGT recognized by CDP for commitment to fight climate change

PROVIDENCE – International Game Technology PLC was recently recognized by the CDP’s 2016 Climate Change Program for its commitment to fight climate change.

IGT was noted by the nonprofit group, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, for effectively reducing emissions.

“IGT is committed to continuously improving its energy efficiency initiatives,” Robert K. Vincent, IGT executive vice president, administrative services and external relations, said in a statement.
“We intend to take actions to further reduce emissions and energy consumption ratios. In addition, we will engage our supply chain to ensure that our suppliers are working to limit greenhouse gas emissions.”

IGT, according to a news release from the company, scored higher than the industry sector average, and the overall average score of all responding companies.

The company said this is its first time it has been recognized since IGT and GTECH merged last year. It also said the recognition notes that the global company is managing its environmental impact in line with the Paris Agreement goals set in 2015 to limit global warming.
Specific actions that IGT took that were highlighted by the CDP included: reducing energy consumption of its data centers, and increasing shipping efficiency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at its Italian operations.
