IRS accepts VITA, TCE applications

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Service is accepting applications for two grant programs – the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and Tax Counseling for the Elderly, according to an announcement from the federal agency. Deadline for applications is June 2.
Some organizations can apply to receive annual funding for up to three years, according to the IRS.
The VITA program, established I n1969, provides free federal income tax filing assistance to underserved communities.
The TCE program, established in 1978 provides tax counseling and tax return preparation assistance to people 60 years and older.
