IlluminOss announces Spanish, Israeli launch

EAST PROVIDENCE – IlluminOss Medical, a privately held, commercial stage medical device company pioneering the development of minimally invasive fracture fixation technologies, has launched its proprietary Photodynamic Bone Stabilization System in Spain and Israel. IlluminOss launched its PBSS, an innovative, patient-specific orthopedic implant system for the stabilization and treatment of bone fractures, with Prim Ortopedia in Spain and in Israel with Trimaco Ltd.

“We look forward to expanding access to this technology, which can significantly enhance how orthopedic fractures are treated, in Spain and Israel,” said Dirk Kuyper, president and CEO of IlluminOss. “We are now commercially available in eight countries, providing patients and surgeons with an innovative and unprecedented fracture repair system.”

With a CE Marking Certificate for light to low-load bearing indications, IlluminOss’ PBSS is being utilized in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and The Netherlands, in addition to Spain and Israel. IlluminOss is seeking U.S. FDA approval as well as an expansion of its indications in the EU.

The minimally invasive PBSS enables clinicians to repair bone fractures using a light-curable polymer contained within an expandable balloon catheter to achieve bone stabilization. The revolutionary procedure is made through a small surgical approach providing patients and clinicians with a fast, customized, method of orthopedic bone stabilization. The number of IlluminOss’ surgical implants continues to grow with excellent outcomes.
