Incentives not best idea

To the Editor:

Are you kidding? (“Smart incentive programs start to yield economic fruit for R.I.,” Jan. 9, 2016) Do you guys really believe the awarding of a $450,000 tax credit over a 10-year period was the element that precipitated the hiring of 25 new employees in Rhode Island versus Virginia?

The fact is [Greystone of Lincoln Inc.] has been soliciting employment opportunities for months now, and the newly enacted [Qualified Jobs Incentive] Tax Credit program in this instance is a total waste of taxpayer dollars.

This expansion would have occurred in Rhode Island if Mickey the Mope was governor without incentives. I am not against financial incentives when used judiciously, but in this instance a real snow job and you all go for the bait!
