Last week Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee order state agencies to increase the rate at which they are tasked with reviewing state business regulations, saying that the business community cannot wait for the original timeline, which called for one-quarter of all business regulations to be reviewed every year.
Under the new time table, the governor directed agencies to complete the review of one-quarter of regulations every 120 days. In addition, no new regulations may be promulgate until each review deadline is met, unless the governor takes action directly to allow it.
Will this change help the state’s businesses?
