When the state filed a lawsuit against 14 people and organizations involved in the 38 Studios LLC loan guarantee, an already unprecedented deal veered off into more uncharted waters.
Named in the suit, with what amounted to the equivalent of criminal conspiracy charges, were 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling, along with two other company executives.
Also named were former R.I. Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Keith W. Stokes as well as former Deputy Director J. Michael Saul, along with the banks that placed the bonds that are at the heart of the matter.
Is this suit likely to have a chilling effect on public service volunteers going forward?
