JA gets grant from TD foundation

PROVIDENCE – Junior Achievement of Rhode Island has received a $3,363 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation to support financial literacy programming.
The Foundation is the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, and represents a commitment to giving back to the community.
Junior Achievement provides programs on workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. The latter helps prepare youth for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.
“We are pleased to have the support of the TD Charitable Foundation, particularly because they have been strong supporters of our organization and do so much for the community,” said Lee Lewis, president of Junior Achievement of Rhode Island. “This grant will help JA continue providing youth in Rhode Island with the financial literacy skills they need to survive, thrive and contribute to our state’s economy.”
Junior Achievement’s approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver the curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Programs supported through this grant will take place in Rhode Island’s urban and urban-ring school districts – reaching those students who need it most.
The nonprofit reaches more than 7 percent of the Rhode Island student population per year in more than 20 communities across Rhode Island. For more information, visit jarhodeisland.org.
The foundation has made more than $133.2 million in charitable donations since its inception in 2002, focusing on affordable housing, financial literacy and education, and the environment.
