JWU honored for experiential learning

PROVIDENCE – Johnson & Wales University recently received the William M. Burke Presidential Award for Excellence in Experiential Education.
Presented by the National Society for Experiential Education, and funded by The Washington Center for Academic Internships and Seminars in memory of their founder William M. Burke, the award recognizes an institution that has made significant contributions to experiential education.
More than 4,200 Johnson & Wales students participate in internships annually at some 1,900 sites in 50 states and 35 different countries.
JWU Chancellor John Bowen accepted the award on behalf of the university at the society’s 2014 conference held in Baltimore. The Burke Award also provides a $2,000 scholarship to be given to a deserving student at Johnson & Wales involved in experiential learning. •
