JWU to host Kauffman Foundation program for entrepreneurs

PROVIDENCE – Johnson & Wales University is the first school in New England to host a Kauffman Foundation program for entrepreneurs dubbed “One Million Cups.”
The university is kicking off its participation as a One Million Cups site on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Larry Friedman International Center for Entrepreneurship at 10 Abbott Park Place.
JWU joins 72 other sites throughout the country participating in this program.
One Million Cups engages entrepreneurs around the world weekly by offering two local entrepreneurs a chance to present their startups to an audience of mentors, advisers and fellow entrepreneurs. The idea is for entrepreneurs to gain insight into their businesses, in an effort to advance their concepts and connect with the larger community.
The startup presenters who have applied and been accepted make a six-minute presentation and have 20 minutes for feedback and questions. Presentations, which are open to the public, take place every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at all One Million Cups sites across the U.S.
Based in Kansas City, Mo., the foundation’s mission is to help people attain economic independence by advancing educational achievement and entrepreneurship.
