Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic donates to local nonprofits

PROVIDENCE – Singer Jeffrey Osborne, a Rhode Island native, donated funding to local nonprofit organizations on Wednesday from his annual Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic.
The celebrity classic took place Aug. 9 to 11 and featured the All-Star Celebrity Comedy Explosion, the Celebrity Softball Classic and the Celebrity Classic golf event.

“I grew up in Rhode Island and music was a huge part of my upbringing,” Osborne said in a statement. “Music is what has made me who I am today, and I want to help bring that experience to Rhode Island’s next generation of aspiring musicians and students.”
Current recipients include: The Amos House, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, The Music School of the RI Philharmonic, The Met School (Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center), St. Mary’s Home for Children and Button Hole Golf, among others.
The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic has raised approximately $650,000 for local non-profits since its inception four years ago.
The fifth annual Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic will be held Aug. 6 to 9, the “On the Wings of Love” singer announced Thursday.
