Employees at the Rhode Island office of John Hancock Financial Network – Independence Financial Partners recently donated socks, gloves, toiletries, gift cards and chocolate to the House of Hope Community Development Corp.’s Harrington Hall Shelter in Cranston. Harrington Hall currently provides shelter for 80 to 100 homeless men each night.
“We appreciate John Hancock Financial Network stepping up to the plate and helping out,” said House of Hope CDC Executive Director Jean Johnson. “In times like now, when our need is so great, we rely on the generous donations from our community. These simple acts of kindness make a huge difference in the lives of our clients.”
The hundreds of donated items were collected during a friendly competition that pitted teams of Independence Financial employees against each other.
“We are concerned about the impact the lagging economy has had on our community,” said Richard P. Beaulieu, co-managing partner of Independence Financial Partners. “We’re happy to help the House of Hope CDC, and particularly the men at Harrington Hall.” &#8226
