Johnson & Wales aims to offer CFP education

PROVIDENCE – Johnson & Wales University has registered to start offering certified financial professional education, according to a press release.
The private university announced last week it has registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to provide a new CFP education program. The CFP Board owns the CFP certification marks, which is awarded to individuals who pass the exam, according to the release.
“Students satisfactorily completing the seven core financial-planning courses in the MS Finance degree program at Johnson & Wales University will have met the education requirement for CFP certified examination administered by [the] CFP Board,” according to the release.
The program is a classroom- and Web-based course comprising seven courses with 31.5 quarter credit hours, or 21 equivalent semester credit hours, according to the release. It’s taught at a graduate level.
