To raise awareness of the hazards caused by drunk drivers and distracted drivers, the Katie DeCubellis Memorial Foundation has launched a campaign that it hopes will help to keep the roads safe.
Through the campaign, launched earlier this month, local businesses and organizations apply large magnets to their company vehicles that instruct viewers to “please drive responsibly.”
Munroe Dairy, AAA of Southern New England, the Rhode Island State Police, Big Blue Bug Solutions, Del’s Lemonade and Almeida Plumbing are among those participating.
“We are so pleased and honored that such respected and conscientious organizations are joining forces with KDMF to help encourage motorists to drive responsibly, and hopefully, save lives,” said John DeCubellis, the foundation’s executive director.
DeCubellis and his wife, Meg, launched the foundation to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence and distracted driving after their 13-year-old daughter, Katie, was killed by a drunk driver in 1999. •
