Kent opens ambulatory surgery center in city

WARWICK – Kent Hospital held a ribbon-cutting and grand-opening ceremony on May 15 for its state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center, located in the Ambulatory Services Pavilion.
The surgery center is equipped with eight surgery suites, five expansive and three smaller rooms, designed specifically for endoscopic technology and interventional spine procedures, according to hospital officials.
The suites are managed from a main console that allows one member of the surgical team to control various features of the room and comes with state-of-the-art anesthesia equipment.
The design of the facility allows easy access from every room to the central surgical core. The surgery center is connected directly to Kent’s full-service, acute-care facility in the event a patient needs to be brought to the main hospital for further care.
The new surgery center has 28 oversized pre- and post-operative bays for a patient’s preparation and recovery. •
