In the past 37 years, I've had the privilege to be a part of the growth and success of Navigant Credit Union. One hundred years ago, the credit union, originally named La Credit Union de Notre Dame de Central Falls, finished its first year in business with $22,000 in assets. Today we have more than $1.5 billion.
We have been successful because we understand the three constituencies that define our world: our employees, our members and our community.
» Employees. I've always cultivated a family atmosphere. Family comes first. I have made this clear to my employees. Treating employees well and with respect goes a long way toward them internalizing the member-focused service that creates value.
» Members. Without our members, we would not be where we are today. They depend on us providing excellent service, whether through various financial products or prudent, tailored financial advice.
» Community. We are dedicated to the community. If you are a business that depends on the community where you are located for your success, you have an obligation to be a good community partner. I've always said that if we are good to the community, it will be good to us. That approach has paid off in the past and holds true to this day.
The last century has been good to Navigant Credit Union. But that has only been possible by taking care of our three constituencies, an approach that I am most proud of. •
