LLS seeking applicants for Student of the Year award, scholarship

WARWICK – As the second annual Student of the Year fundraising campaign draws near, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is asking for high school students to apply for the award.

Any high school-aged student in grade nine to 12 is eligible and the winner of the campaign will be awarded a scholarship to the college or university of their choice. Students can run as individuals or in groups of two or three.

Last year, the organization hosted five students who raised $94,000 to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fight against blood cancers. Cranston West senior Maddie Renaud, who raised $37,000 on her own, won the title of Leukemia & Lymphoma Student of the Year.

The 2017 campaign will kick off on Jan. 20 and the winner will be announced at the grand finale on March 4 at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln. For more information, contact Carla Mulhern at 401-854-4416 or visit www.studentseries.org.
