WARWICK – Students interested in competing in the 2012 Rhode Island Cyber Foundations Competition must register by Oct. 15, Rep. James R. Langevin announced.
This is the third edition of the competition, which is designed to test the computer-networking skills of high school students while introducing them to the cybersecurity field.
In last year’s competition, Rhode Island had the highest participation rate in the country. The top three finalists from the 2012 competition will receive cash prizes.
The competition, administered in states across the country by the National Board of Information Security Examiners, features a series of timed quizzes that last roughly an hour each. They are designed to test aptitude in the three foundational skills of cybersecurity: networking, operating systems and system administration.
