Lawmakers, execs host ‘Financial Frenzy’

EAST GREENWICH – Lawmakers and financial executives are scheduled to join East Greenwich High School students and educators Wednesday for a financial forum dubbed, “Financial Frenzy.”

The high school will host the forum at 10 a.m. and slated to attend are Rhode Island Rep. James R. Langevin, Democrat, General Treasurer Seth Magaziner, Sen. Mark W. Gee, R-East Greenwich, and Rep. Anthony Giarrusso, R-East Greenwich along with executives from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

The forum is a byproduct of efforts taken by a group of East Greenwich students last year who urged and successfully convinced education policymakers to adopt statewide standards for financial education.

“The event will allow students and interested individuals to discuss local, state and national financial topics with policy makers and industry representatives,” according to the school.

Also during the forum, state winner and national finalist of the “InvestWrite” competition will be announced. The competition requires students to present ideas and understanding of investment-related concepts.
