Lottery to debut new Monopoly Millionaires’ Club game

CRANSTON – Rhode Island Lottery is offering a new game, Monopoly Millionaires’ Club, with the potential to create more simultaneous millionaires than any other game in lottery history.

Tickets for this lottery game will go on sale Oct. 19 and give players three ways to become a millionaire.

The first of these weekly drawings will take place Oct. 24 at 11:15 p.m., giving players a chance to win cash prizes, including the top prize which ranges from $15 million to $25 million.

Whenever the top prize is won, a second drawing will take place that same night, awarding multiple $1 million prizes.

Each Monopoly Millionaires’ Club lottery game ticket will also have a webcode that players can enter online for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas and appear on a new television show for another shot at winning up to $1 million.

“With so many ways to win, we will be able to answer our players’ request for more substantial winners, instead of one or two large jackpot winners,” Gerald Aubin, Rhode Island Lottery director, said in a statement. “Being able to use locally-based Hasbro Inc.’s iconic Monopoly brand will only strengthen the game; we can’t wait to root for the Rhode Island winners appearing as contestants on the ‘Monopoly Millionaires’ Club’ television show.”

Monopoly Millionaires’ Club lottery game is a $5 draw game and will be the first multi-state draw game at this price level in the United States. The odds of winning the game’s top prize are approximately 1 in 73 million, and the overall odds of winning any prize in the Friday night drawing are 1 in 10.

The weekly hour-long “Monopoly Millionaires’ Club” television game show will premiere in February 2015, with comedian and actor Billy Gardell (“Mike & Molly”) hosting the show.

Rhode Island Lottery players can enter webcodes from their tickets at http://www.playmmc.com/ for a chance to win a five-day, four-night trip for two to Las Vegas. The Rhode Island winners will join winners from the other participating states in the studio audience and have a chance to compete on the television show for prizes up to $1 million.
