MBA Scholarship Foundation awards 5 college scholarships

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Bankers Association Scholarship Foundation awarded five college scholarships to children of bank employees this year, including for two people working at Bristol County banks.

Each year, Mass Bankers awards students entering college, who are children of association-member bank employees. This year it awarded five, $2,000 scholarships based on grade point average, standardized testing scores, extra-curricular activities and an essay question.

“The applicants were a terrific group of young scholars,” said Daniel J. Forte, president and CEO of Mass Bankers. “So much so, the Trustees, for the second year in a row, decided to add another scholarship award.”

The awardees include Hailey Alden of Taunton. Alden, who will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is the daughter of Janice Alden, who works at Bristol County Savings Bank in Attleboro.
