ATTLEBORO – The MJSA Press book “Jewelry Metals: A Guide to Working with Common Alloys” has won a Silver Award in the 2016 Association Media & Publishing EXCEL competition for association publishing.
“Jewelry Metals” is a guide to working with precious and non-precious metals, with step-by-step instructions on a range of metalworking techniques, including mokumé gane, granulation, chasing and anticlastic forming. Published in 2015, the book further dissects the characteristics of common alloys, and offers tips and advice for easier casting and bench work, managing scrap metal and complying with international marking and stamping regulations.

James Binnion, owner of James Binnion Metal arts in Bellingham, Wash., served as the book’s technical editor. Binnion is an acclaimed metalsmith and expert in the mokumé gane metalworking technique.

“Jewelry Metals” was awarded a bronze ribbon in the 2015 Association TRENDS All-Media Contest.
