Employees look forward to the end of the week at Envision Technology Advisors in Providence – and not just for the weekend. Things tend to get interesting as the workweek progresses.

Thursdays are renowned for chicken-wing lunches. Fridays include an hour of cartoons. In the summer, Envision rolls out the company’s very own slushy machine. Staff in need of a break can play with the two dogs in the HR department. And, on random days, the company blasts hip-hop music midday, and the staff dances.

“The reason I wanted to start a business is I like to have fun,” said Envision CEO Todd S. Knapp. “I want to run a company that everyone wants to work for.”

“Part of what is exceptional about this place is that having fun isn’t the exception, it’s the rule,” said Jeremy Girard, director of Web development. “On a daily basis, there are things that make you laugh.”

Envision has made a name for itself by creating a fun and inclusive environment for its employees. Envision focuses on career development and staff-requested trainings. The company offers an annual performance bonus and continuing education support with tuition reimbursement.

“Very rarely will you have people walk up to the door and not hear people laughing on the other side,” said Knapp, who added the company hires based on personality and diverse educational background, in addition to tech know-how.

In the working environment, Envision aims to create “flat” staff meetings, meaning everyone at the table is considered equally. Ideas are shared freely, which sparks creativity.

“There is nothing written in stone. Everyone is entitled to walk into my office and recommend a way to make our business better,” said Knapp. •
