PROVIDENCE – For their March meetup, the Providence Geeks will host G-Form LLC, a company that sells protective gear for athletes and electronic devices using a reactive and flexible technology to guard against impact damage.
G-Form gained public attention January 2012 with the viral YouTube video demonstrating how an iPad survived a drop of more than 100,000 feet from space into the Nevada desert, shielded by G-Form’s 6 oz. Perimeter case.

After the video’s success, racking up more than 4.1 million views on YouTube, G-Form applied its reactive polymer technology to develop protective gear for extreme sports such as skateboarding, biking and soccer, “shaking up one industry after another,” according to Providence Geeks organizer Jack Templin.
Last year, G-Form ranked at No. 7 on the Inc. magazine list of the top 100 job creators in Rhode Island, after adding 20 new jobs and more than doubling its workforce during the 18 months ended June 2013.
Danny Warshay, executive chairman of G-Form and an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Brown University, will join the Providence Geeks on Wednesday to tell the G-Form story, demonstrate the company’s technology and products, and talk about what markets the company plans to expand into next.
The March meetup will take place on Wednesday, March. 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the AS220 in Providence. The event is free, but attendees buy their own food and drink.
