BOSTON – Single-family home sales in Massachusetts rose nearly 3 percent over the year in September, to 5,588 from 5,436, representing the largest amount of sales in September in 11 years, The Warren Group said Tuesday.
September also marks the fifth consecutive month in which at least 5,000 homes were sold.

The median sale price of a single-family home in September rose 3 percent, to $340,000 from $330,000 last year. However, this is the lowest median sale price recorded in five months. Year to date, home prices are up 1.4 percent from last year, with a median sale price of $347,330.
Timothy Warren, CEO of The Warren Group, said 2016 has been “an outstanding year for sales.”
“Though we’ve got three more months left in the year it appears that we could see 2016 sales of single-family homes reach the 2015 level of 60,523,” Warren said in a statement.
