BOSTON – Today is the final day of ALS One’s social media campaign “A Thousand for A Thousand,” which aims to raise at least $1 million for ALS research.
The Massachusetts Bankers Association has joined the effort and is urging business to contribute to the nonprofit’s goal of getting at least $1,000 from at least 1,000 businesses during May, which is ALS Awareness Month.
ALS is known formerly as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and popularly as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS One, a nonprofit founded by Massachusetts small-business owner Kevin Gosnell, who last year at age 46 was diagnosed with ALS, has a widespread network of businesses, doctors and researchers advocating for a cure.
