Mayor launches Center for City Services

PROVIDENCE – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza unveiled on Tuesday the Mayor’s Center for City Services, a restructured arm of his constituent service operation, to provide a streamlined, responsive and customer service-oriented resource for residents seeking assistance from the city.

Elorza called the initiative a “resource for residents” that “allows the city to constantly improve the level of services we provide.”

“When people call this office they know that they will be greeted by a friendly, responsive member of our team and that they will receive a call back in a timely manner with a status update. Taxpayers deserve the highest quality city services and I am committed to making sure that we are constantly working to provide the best possible experience for our residents,” he said in a statement.
The MCCS aims to improve the speed and efficiency of city services through innovative partnerships and systems. The city has partnered with Amica Mutual Insurance Co. to provide customer service training to MCCS staff and other points of contact in city government.
The city services office has closed approximately 9,000 cases since Elorza took office, including the elimination of a backlog of over 3,000 cases inherited from the previous administration.
Elorza also has added new resources to help people navigate City Hall, including signs throughout the building and an information desk staffed by a MCCS representative, as well as a mobile MCCS van.
City residents are encouraged to call 421-CITY to speak with a member of the MCCS team.
