McElroy tapped to head R.I. Bar Association


PROVIDENCE – Michael R. McElroy has been elected as the president of the Rhode Island Bar Association for the organization’s 2012-2013 year.

McElroy, a resident of Providence and Narragansett, is a partner in the Providence-based law firm Schacht & McElroy.

He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and earned his law degree from the Boston University School of Law. McElroy also earned a masters degree in taxation from Bryant University.

In addition to his work at Schacht & McElroy, McElroy is a former chairman of the Superior Court Bench/Bar Committee and a member of the House of Delegates and the Executive Committee of the Bar Association.

McElroy is admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Tennessee, as well as various U.S. District Courts, Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court.

McElroy’s term on the nonprofit professional organization will run from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.
