Meals on Wheels gets $50K grant

WEST WARWICK – Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island has received a $50,000 grant award from the Centreville Savings Bank Charitable Foundation.
The donation will be used for the organization’s meal programs, social services and outreach to senior and disabled clients throughout the state. A portion of the award will be used to fund the newly named Centreville Bank Emergency Meal Program, which provides additional meals that are “shelf stable,” equipping thousands of homebound clients with meals when inclement weather or other emergencies prevent the organization from delivering meals.
“We are truly honored to be a recipient of this significant gift,” said Heather Amaral, Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island executive director. “It is a privilege to have this wonderful partnership with Centreville Bank. Their continued support and generosity is vital in helping us to achieve our vision so that no senior will go hungry or experience social isolation.”
Through its foundation, the bank partners with local non-profits to strengthen the well-being of communities across Rhode Island.
“After funding last winter’s emergency meal program, we took a more active role in the mission of Meals on Wheels and the services they provide,” said Tom Lamb, Centreville Bank president and CEO. “In order to sustain the efforts they provide state-wide, we were delighted to increase our support of their tremendous efforts. We’re very proud to be affiliated with the organization.”
The bank has seven branch locations in West Warwick, Coventry, West Greenwich, East Greenwich, Wickford, Narragansett and Cranston, and assets of $1.02 billion.
