Mechanics Cooperative awards scholarships

Mechanics Cooperative Bank awarded scholarships to three local high school students for academic excellence, as well as for their dedication to athletics, community service and pursuit for higher education.
The three recipients were Jeremy Filteau of Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School, Michael Monte of Somerset Berkley Regional High School and Emily Williams of Coyle & Cassidy High School.
Aside from making the National Honor Society, these students also excelled in their AP courses on top of donating their time to several nonprofit organizations and mentoring programs.
Monte’s scholarship award was given in memory of Raymond H. Bibeau, the late president and CEO of Lafayette Federal Savings Bank. The scholarship arose after the merger between Mechanical Cooperative and Lafayette in 2008. The scholarship honor’s Bibeau’s lifelong commitment to education and the local community.
Filteau will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, majoring in biomedical engineering. Monte will attend Northeastern University, majoring in engineering and Williams will attend Skidmore College, majoring in biochemistry. •
