PROVIDENCE – Friends of The Foundation for Life Inc. recently visited Meeting Street in Providence and donated a dozen bicycles and helmets to the school’s students.
The foundation is a Shelton, Conn.-based charitable organization supported by the employees of Barnum Financial Group, a Warwick office of MetLife.
Bicycles are used every day in Meeting Street’s physical education classes and also during therapy sessions. Meeting Street is an educational innovator for learners of all abilities, from infancy through young adulthood, providing personalized services to meet each individual’s unique needs and learning style through its core programs.
“Students were very excited to see new bikes in the gymnasium,” said Mary Cooper, Meeting Street physical education teacher. “No matter what their physical abilities are, they can all ride bicycles together as a class. Many of the students at Meeting Street learn how to ride bicycles here since they may not have access to bikes at home or live on busy main roads so we are truly appreciative of Barnum Financial Group’s generosity.”
