Memorial Hospital to open art gallery, install first show

PAWTUCKET – Memorial Hospital has created a new art gallery, with its first show set to be celebrated with an opening reception from 3-8 p.m. on Nov. 30. There will be an artist meet and greet from 5-8 p.m.

Dr. John Byrne, chief medical director of Memorial, said that the power of art to provide comfort was one reason for the creation of the gallery space.

“Because of the calming and healing effect of art, a hospital is a wonderful place to showcase various pieces,” Byrne said. “This will help us in our mission to provide a positive patient and family experience at Memorial, as well as helping to inspire wellness and healing.”
