Memorial hauls in $1.25M grant to aid children

PAWTUCKET – Memorial Hospital recently received a five-year, $1.25 million grant from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration to improve availability of primary care for children and adolescents in underserved areas.

The grant will go to the Department of Family Medicine and will focus on care for families living in Pawtucket and Central Falls through the development of physicians specializing in patient- and family-centered care for children and adolescents, particularly those who do so in underserved communities.

“The purpose of this grant is to enhance the training of medical students, family medicine residents and family medicine faculty at Memorial, as well as community faculty throughout these two underserved communities,” Nothnagle said.
