Micro Lofts at Arcade lauded for sustainability

PROVIDENCE – The Micro Lofts at Arcade Providence is featured in 2016 Sustainia100, an annual publication that highlights the most innovative, available, scalable and sustainable solutions to the world’s most challenging issues, according to a news release.
This year’s edition, available at www.sustainia.me, features solutions deployed in 188 countries.
A tenant waiting list is routine for the micro units at Arcade Providence, which opened in 2013. The 200- to 400-square-foot units are leased at rates affordable to young professionals in Providence.
In 2012, Northeast Collaborative Architects created the 48 micro-apartments on the second and third floors of the Arcade, which was built in 1828 and is regarded as the first enclosed shopping center in the U.S. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
