PROVIDENCE – Moses Brown School has partnered with The Compost Plant, a local startup that collects and composts food waste from Providence-based restaurants and schools.
Kicking off their operation on March 1, The Compost Plant collects from restaurants and schools and delivers the waste to Earth Care Farm, a rural Charlestown business that has been accepting food waste to produce compost since 1979.
Moses Brown, an independent, college-preparatory school, also became more sustainable in the kitchen by contracting with Newport Biodiesel for the collecting of used cooking oil to be recycled and reused. Newport Biodiesel produces a clean-burning and sustainable fuel from used vegetable oil collected from more than 1,700 restaurant partners in the New England area. •
