Posted 7/20/12

PAWTUCKET – The Rhode Island Musical Hall of Fame is offering a motor coach tour to Bethel, N.Y. to celebrate the history of the Woodstock Music and Arts Fair on Oct. 27-28.

The tour includes visits to the museum at Bethel Woods in Bethel and the Woodstock Museum in Woodstock, N.Y., where the music festival had been scheduled to take place.

The Woodstock concert was held in Bethel on the dairy farm of Max Yasgur in the summer of 1969. Some 400,000 people attend the three-day event that featured music legends Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Who and The Grateful Dead among others and famously was closed by Jimi Hendrix’s solo guitar interpretation of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The tour includes, at $236 per person, with a $10 service fee, for those sharing a hotel room and $299 per person with the same fee for those traveling solo, motor coach transportation, one-night accommodations with continental breakfast, admission to both museums, a tour of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, and a commemorative photograph at the Woodstock concert site. Partial proceeds will benefit the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame, a nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve the legacy of Rhode Island musicians, educators and industry professionals.

Reservations are required by Oct. 12.
