NEIT receives $5,000 from Grainger Foundation

EAST GREENWICH – The Grainger Foundation has donated $5,000 to the New England Institute of Technology to support of hands-on technical education at the college.
The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation based in Lake Forest, Ill., was established in 1949 by William W. Grainger, the founder of W.W. Grainger, Inc.
Jim Crowley, manager of the company’s Warwick branch, supported making the donation.
“We are proud to recommend the programs offered by New England Institute of Technology,” said Crowley. “We understand the goal of the college to support those students with financial need.”
Robert R. Theroux, vice president of finance and business administration at NEIT, thanked the company for the donation. The grant will be used to provide scholarships to students in the school’s associate’s science degree program in refrigeration/air conditioning, heating and gas technology, he said.
The funds “will assist those students experiencing financial challenges in completing their degrees,” Theroux said.
