NEA awards six grants to R.I. arts organizations

WASHINGTON – The National Endowment of the Arts has awarded a total of $218,000 in funding for arts organizations to the Rhode Island arts community and organizations that offer arts education to residents.
Six Rhode Island organizations received the funding. Nationally, the NEA granted a total $22.3 million to 832 organizations. The grants span 13 artistic disciplines and fields, and focus primarily on the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing works for the benefit of U.S. audiences.
Rhode Island organizations receiving NEA grants for fiscal 2013 were: The Alliance of Artistic Communities, Providence; RiverzEdge Arts Project Inc., Woonsocket; FirstWorks, Providence; New Urban Arts, Providence; Providence City Arts for Youth Inc., Providence; and Trinity Repertory Co., Providence. •
