NEW YORK – The New England Institute of Technology earned the No. 14 spot on The Princeton Review’s list of the 15 best undergraduate schools to study video game design, the education services company announced Tuesday.

The report, “Top Schools to Study Video Game Design for 2013,” was based on a survey The Princeton Review conducted in 2012 to 2013 of 150 programs at institutions in the United States and Canada that offered video game design coursework or related degrees degrees. This is the fourth annual report.

The Princeton Review’s 50-question survey asked schools to report on a range of topics, including: academic offerings, faculty credentials and graduates’ employment and professional achievements. In a release, The Princeton Review said it weighed the school curriculum, faculty, facilities and infrastructure, plus career services, student scholarships and financial aid as part of its decision.

New England Tech was the only Rhode Island-based school to make the list, which was topped by the University of Utah. From neighboring Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked fifth, Worcester Polytechnic Institute ranked 12th and Worcester-based Becker College ranked 13th.

The Princeton Review also ranked the “Top 15” graduate schools to study video game design. Los Angeles-based University of Southern California topped that list.
