EAST GREENWICH – A new bachelor of science degree in criminal justice for public safety professionals will debut at the New England Institute of Technology on March 30.
The hybrid degree will mix online courses and activities with classroom and lab work to provide convenience and flexibility to public safety, military, law enforcement, corrections and security professionals, said Douglas H. Sherman, NEIT’s senior vice president and provost.
Candidates for the program must have a criminal justice background with either an associate’s degree in criminal justice or college credit equivalent background, along with experience in these fields, Sherman said. Applicants with fewer college credits but substantial criminal justice experience, may request a portfolio review to assess eligibility, he said.
The curriculum strengthens core competencies in criminal justice, building expertise in such areas as homeland security, white-collar crime, social media, digital forensics, ethics and use of force, incident response and public administration, Sherman said.
“Graduates of our criminal justice hybrid program will be better prepared for the daily challenges they face, for career advancement opportunities and for leadership roles in their chosen profession,” Sherman noted.
An open house is scheduled for March 12 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at the Warwick campus at 65 Access Road. For information, call the admissions office at 1-800-736-7744 or 401-467-7744, email NEITAdmissions@neit.edu or visit www.neit.edu.
