Navigant closing former Dexter branch in Central Falls

SMITHFIELD – Navigant Credit Union is closing the former Dexter Credit Union’s branch located in Central Falls on Sept. 7.
At the beginning of April, Navigant absorbed Dexter Credit Union along with its balance sheet, two branches, and more than 16,000 members. However, the former Dexter branch at 934 Dexter St. in Central Falls is within two miles of two other Navigant branches, one at 693 Broad St. in Central Falls and another in 20 Dexter St. in Pawtucket. It’s also within range of another branch at 185 Front St. in Lincoln. The Central Falls Dexter branch is redundant, thus will be closed, according to Navigant.
The 24-hour drive-up ATM at the former Dexter location will remain open. The Broad Street branch and drive-up will open Saturdays effective Aug. 27 and its lobby hours will be expanded starting Aug. 22.
The other Dexter branch located at 135 Danielson Pike in Scituate will remain open and its hours will be expanded as well.
Navigant Credit Union, based in Smithfield, has been providing financial products and services to its members, and offering community support for more than 100 years. The credit union holds more than $1.7 million in assets, has more than 75,000 members, and 15 branches in Northern Rhode Island and the East Bay.
